Well this is it boys and girls… The end of another disappointing Dolphins season… but at least this year there are things to hope for. The team has played great of late and it looks like we have a pretty good running back in Reggie Bush. He is out for the Jets game but the future looks bright. If we can manage to get a QB and a new coach there is no telling what 2012 will bring for the Dolphins. To start it off right we can help knock the Jets out of the play offs this weekend. No better way to start the year for a Dolphins fan in NYC. And if we lose to the Jets and the Redskins win it will go a long way to getting us a pretty good quarterback.

Anyway this week I know a lot of you will be tempted to stay in bed and crawl to your couch after a night of heavy drinking on NYE. With the game on TV it might make it hard for some folks to get to the bar. That’s why we are giving you a reason to leave your house for one more Sunday! We are going to say goodbye to the 2011 Dolphins in style!

We are going to have some sort of breakfast food waiting for you when you get to the bar. At the very least there will be bagels and Bloody Mary drink specials and we could have more stuff like eggs and bacon and delicious things to help you get rid of your damn hang over.

We are also going to be doing our last raffle of the year! We want to raise a little bit more money for charity so we are going to be getting rid of all the rest of the stuff that we have been holding on to. Last night I went to Jay Fiedler’s 40th birthday party and he signed a couple items for me for the raffle. We also have a few Nat Moore autographs left over from the Nat More meet up. We also have some assorted things like a Jim Mandich t-shirt and some actual game day Dolphins socks! We might even have some Garo Yepremian signed stuff too. I have been told by one of Garo’s business partners that it’s in the mail but I am not sure if it’s gonna come in time.

No matter what we should have a great time on New Years Day and get to say goodbye to everyone for a while. But don’t worry, you won’t have to wait all off season to see everyone because we have some special events we are working on including a 1972 Dolphins reunion in North Jersey and of course our yearly draft party. Things are looking up! Go Dolphins!

Oh yeah and then there is this…

As bad as the Dolphins have been I have been amazed at how Dolfans NYC has continued to show up. On Sunday against a terrible Broncos the bar was packed by halftime. When the game started there were only about a dozen of us and I figured it was going to be empty but by God you guys kept showing up and we had a great time comiserating about the team and discussing the future. When you blow a game like that it’s really nice to be surrounded by people who feel your pain.

It took me a while to get over losing to the Jets and finally put these photos up but I have some great pictures for you.

First off we had our Nat Moore meet and greet event last Sunday. If you weren’t there Nat Moore came by to watch football with us. We had a raffle and raised some money for charity. Third and Long paid for food for everyone and Nat talked with everyone and signed autographs. He was really great and I cannot thank him enough. I know everyone there really apreciated it and I was really impressed with the turn out considering the Dolphins weren’t even playing.

The second batch of photos I have for you is from our amazing tailgate at the Jets game. We didn’t sell as many tickets as we were hoping but we still had more than 50 people all in the same section at the game and we had a lot more than that at the tailgate. We met people from all over the country and sold them a bunch of Dolfans NYC t-shirts (all the money goes to charity) to take home with them and rep in Miami and all over the place. A couple of guys were even in town from Belgium! Very cool. The game of course was a disaster but we held strong and most of us were still left in our seats when the whistle sounded. We had some fun after the game too but I think we will just leave it at that…

I am posting two galleries below. The top one is from the Nat Moore event at Third & Long and the bottom one is from the Monday Night Football tailgate at the Meadowlands. If you want a copy of a photo just double click on it in the slideshow and it will take you to the gallery. Go Dolphins!

I hope you guys are getting ready for this weekend! We got a lot going on and we are playing the Jets. Anyone who knows Dolfans NYC knows that we are nearly as anti-Jets as we are pro-Dolphins. As a club we are 3-0 in group trips to Giants Stadium so we are ready to make it 4-0 and 5-0 in a few weeks…

Just wanted to remind you guys about things and update you on the tailgate situation. We plan on tailgaiting in the GREEN section. We have a little bit of food and a grill but it’s BYO all the way this year. We will be set up around 5pm and we will be emailing people once we have an exact spot so if you want on that email list hit up Dolfansnyc@gmail.com and we will hit you up as soon as we have a tailgate spot.

I also want to make sure everyone is coming out on Sunday at 1pm to Third & Long. I know the Dolphins aren’t playing but Dolphins great Nat Moore will be there hanging out and signing autographs. Wear your Dolphins colors because MiamiDolphins.com will be there filming a video about the club. We should have a raffle and giveaways and stuff and we can watch the Giants beat the Bills or one of the other 1pm games.

See you guys there and at Met Life Stadium on Monday! Go Dolphins!

The price for Upper Level Endzone seats to see the Dolphins take on the Jets are $100 per ticket, and in coordination with Lunar Sports Group, we have secured over 70 seats together in the same section, strictly for Dolphins fans. We’ve had an overwhelming amount of interest in tickets, and wanted to make sure that every die-hard Fins fan has a chance to join us.

You can purchase your tickets directly by clicking here, or feel free to send an email with any questions to dolfansnyc@gmail.com.

Hi guys!!

The Miami Dolphins will be making TWO trips to New York this season, and DolfansNYC is organizing outings for both games! Below are the details. If you’re interested, please send an e-mail to dolfansnyc@gmail.com with the following info:

1.) Your name
2.) Your e-mail address
3.) Which game(s) you are interested in.
4.) How many tickets you will need. (if interested in both games, please list out separately).
5.) If you are interested in the Phins @ Giants game, please let us know if you will want Option 1 or Option 2.

Dolphins @ Jets – Monday, Oct. 17th at 8:30pm

Unfortunately, we will not be coordinating transportation because it is a Monday Night game, and most people won’t be able to leave work in time to get to the stadium and tailgate.

HOWEVER, we will work on organizing a BYO tailgate as we have in past years, where we e-mail out our location and get everyone together who is there early to hang out before the game.

The price for the Upper Level seats will be $100 per ticket. Yes, it’s upper level, but you’ll still be able to see everything, and remember, the goal here is to get as many of us in the same section as possible. Depending on the numbers, it looks like we can make that happen (if we have a TON of people, we may have to split into two sections, but you’ll still be sitting with a big group of Dolphins fans).

Dolphins @ Giants – Sunday, Oct. 30th at 1:00pm

We have 2 options for this game:

OPTION 1 = Game ticket only – Upper Level = Around $140 per ticket
OPTION 2 = Game ticket + transportation to and from the game + tailgate snacks = Around $185 per person (if we have enough people interested in this option, then we will definitely make this happen).

Pick-up will be at the home of DolfansNYC, 3rd and Long on 3rd Avenue and 35th Street.

Thanks and GO DOLPHINS!!!

Hey, um, remember when this happened? Me neither.

(Though honestly, I found the Dancing with the Stars appearance even more questionable than the New York Jets signing to begin with, but that’s besides the point).

It’s now official – Jason Traitor Taylor is coming back for his third stint with the Miami Dolphins. He said so on his Facebook page and everything. Aside from bringing leadership and a veteran locker room presence (and perhaps a copy of the Jets’ playbook?), the two-time Defensive Player of the Year is unlikely to see more than 15-20 snaps per game and add a handful of sacks to his 132.5 career total, barring an injury to Cameron Wake or Koa Misi. The 36-year-old Taylor is clearly at the tail-end of his Hall of Fame career and should serve as the Dolphins’ third-down down pass rusher and outside linebacker.

Either way, pull out that aqua-and-orange No. 99 jersey from the bottom of your drawer (again) and cheer on one of the greatest Dolphins (and worst Jets and Redskins) players of all-time. It’s yet another reason to forget all about 2010.

Dolfans NYC rode in to the belly of the beast last weekend. It is our third group to the Meadowlands to watch our Dolphins take on the New York Jets. The first year there were only a few of us. Last year we had about a dozen… This year we bought 63 tickets to the game and held a huge tailgate with tons of Dolphins fans from all over the greater New York area. The size of the group may be different but the results have been the same time. Dolfans NYC has walked out of that stadium with a victory.

When we showed up to Giants Stadium at 11:30 in the morning it was pouring rain. We had bought a little tent but the wind was blowing so hard we didn’t have any idea how we were going to set it up. We had a bunch of meat in the car that was getting warm so I got out and put everything into these cheap coolers we bought. The first cooler ripped to bits when I dropped the ice in and started blowing away. After a fierce struggle I got everything into the other cooler and returned to the car freezing and completely soaked. Around 12 another car showed up and the rain had let up a little bit. They were ready to face the elements so we tried to set up this tent tying the thing to the cars with ribbon that Michelle bought to hang up balloons. It was a very haphazard set up but it was good enough to get the grill set up. When the wind picked up a few minutes later the tent almost blew away but we held it down until the wind actually bent the poles so badly that we had to throw the thing away after the tailgate. At some point the rain slowed to a drizzle and a bunch more Dolphins fans showed up and we had ourselves a party.

Thanks to Buffalo Trace Bourbon for providing us with a lot of free booze for the tailgate!

The game itself was a mess but I had 16 tickets in my section and we just happened to luck out and were sitting with another handful of Phins fans. We had some very big dudes with us and some very drunk dudes with us and we just ruined the game for every Jets fan around us and that is exactly what we came to do. In the end the Dolphins won and we were completely drenched and freezing, but we couldn’t be more content as we walked out of Giants Stadium singing the Dolphins fight song.

Just a few more notes on tomorrows game…
It is going to rain tomorrow. If you are tailgating with us, if you have any sort of tent or covering you can bring please do! We will be doing the tailgate rain or shine but if the rain is really bad we might park in a near by parking garage.

Also remember we will have some food and and some booze but we are looking at probably 100 people for this thing assuming the weather isn’t horrible so we need everyone to bring your own food and booze if you can. If anyone has a grill or any of the normal tailgating stuff bring it. We can’t have too much stuff.

One thing we will have at the tailgate will be Orange Miami Dolphins Rally towels. We had the Dolphins send us a box of 50 towels that they were giving out at the last Jets game. We will be giving them out to anyone who bought tickets with us and hopefully we can fly those Orange towels all day.

If you are planning on tailgating with us and have not done so already email DolfansNYC@Gmail.com with your contact info. We will be emailing everyone as soon as we park and know where we are going to be. We are planning on being there between 11 and 11:30. If you can’t get email on your phone give us your phone number and we will text you. We will also be updating the @dolfansnyc Twitter and updating the Facebook group as soon as we park.

Now, very important. I know with the weather and the Dolphins record some people are trying to get rid of tickets. If you bought your tickets with us you are with a group of Dolphins fans. Do NOT sell your tickets to stub hub or let them fall into Jets fans hands. That would be really unfair to the rest of the group. People bought these not so great 300 level tickets so they could be surrounded by Dolphins fans, people want support in enemy territory. If you have extra tickets please post a message on the Facebook group. If anyone needs tickets, please check the Facebook group. Hopefully we can figure this out.

AGAIN… If you need tickets, please check the Facebook group! Someone will be able to help!

And finally… I just wanted you guys to check out this song by a Miami rapper named Solo D. He writes a song every week about the Dolphins upcoming opponent. His song about the Jets game is amazing. We have already hit him up about doing an official Dolfans NYC song.

Can’t wait until we take over Giants Stadium tomorrow. Go Dolphins!

So I am going to cry myself to sleep and you should check out the photos from the meet up at Third & Long below. If you want to download a photo just click it and it will take you to the Flickr page.

This is it. This is the game I have had my eye on since the schedule came out. Primetime game against our most hated rivals. Our first home game and a chance to shut Rex Ryan up for a little bit. We are actually favored to win this game and most people are picking us, but I think we are really still underdogs. No one really expects Miami to be 3-0 headed to the MNF game vs New England… But I do.

I am usually pretty pessimistic when it comes to out Phins, they have disappointed too many times, but the Jets are a team I think we match up well against. I simply don’t think the Jets can score against us unless it’s on defense or special teams and I think the Phins have shown that they can put points on the Jets defense.. and that was before they lost some of their star players. Vontae will lock down Edwards if he plays and they are going to have to run on us. I guess we will see what happens. I think we win 13-9 or something boring like that…

The Dolphins will be wearing Orange on Sunday and they are asking the fans in Miami to do the same. I am asking you guys also to wear Orange if you have it. I personally only have an Orange Seau jersey and I will not be wearing that, but I am pretty sure I have an Orange Dolphins shirt somewhere. Also the Dolphins Defensive players have been encouraging people in Miami to howl on big defensive downs. A Dolfans NYC regular named Yonathan led the charge on Twitter for this and it has steamrolled into something that should be pretty fun on Sunday. If anyone is going to the game make sure you Howl like crazy when the Phins need you. I am sure I will be doing some howling myself at Third and Long.

Also, another reminder about tickets for the Jets/Dolphins game in Miami. We have already purchased more than 20 tickets for the game and we want to buy more but we need your money. The tickets are all 300 level endzone tickets, but we will all be sitting near each other. We are trying to buy three full rows. If you want tickets email DolfansNYC@gmail.com to find out how to pay for them online or bring me or Michelle $112 on Sunday at Third & Long.

Lastly, I just wanted to thank everyone for the big crowds we have been having at Third & Long. It’s really great to watch the game and get crazy with fellow Phins fans. I know this game against the Jets is on TV and you can watch it in the comfort of your living room but this is a big game for us and we need you guys out. Let’s cheer our boys on together. I am not %100 sure but I think we will be doing a raffle this week as well. Should be a lot of fun.

Okay, that’s it. I will see you guys out this Sunday night at Third & Long at 35th and 3rd ave. Go Dolphins!
